Equinox Design of Leeds were pleased when Inmarsat; who represent the past, present and future of aviation connectivity, returned to them for an eye-catcher of a stand for the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2017, Hamburg.

One of the leading names in mobile satellite connectivity, there’s quite a relationship that’s grown between the two companies.

“We’ve worked on an extensive number of projects with Inmarsat over the years” said Scott Munroe, Account Director for Equinox. “We’ve seen their trade show presence grow, and it’s been fantastic to be part of that. For this event, they were showcasing the next generation of airline communications for both passengers and pilots.”

Inmarsat gave the concept-to-creation kings their ideas and their wants for their stand, and met up to discuss the brief, and let the project take off.

“As we delved further in to their objectives, it turned out to be a very ambitious project” said Mr Munroe. “We worked together to spell out exactly what they wanted from a world-class stand. We were going to go big, and give them something truly fitting of their status in the industry. Create a stand that would be very different from the norm, that intrigues, informs, stopped people in their tracks, and was truly disruptive in the exhibition hall.”

As usual, a strong project team was formed by Equinox who grabbed hold of the brief and got in to their creative zone. Concepts got drawn up, changed and evolved; before an incredible series of visuals were ready for their client to cast their eye over.

The design consisted of 420 LED tiles, recessed behind polished aluminium playing bespoke video content. There was also over 270sqm of backlit fabric print, which would stop people in their tracks and attract the attention of anyone close by.

Glimpse at the Future of the Truly Connected Aircraft

“‘When we built this in Hamburg and the show opened, it really did stand out and attract attention” Scott told us. “When visitors stepped on to the stand, they were guided to an immersive, interactive space where they could glimpse at the future of the truly connected aircraft. Shopping at 39,000 feet? No problem. Catching up on the latest Netflix movie? It was all here!”

One aerospace fan gave a glowing review on social media, which simply said: “Inmarsat has a remarkable immersive experience at #AIX17, which highlights the end to end benefits of the connected aircraft.”

The stand was the talking point of the show, and visitors won’t be forgetting it.

Some brilliant work again, and the ultimate show-stopper from the best in the events and exhibitions business for concept, creation, design and execution.
